Paid to the person who paid burial/funeral expenses in full

Basic allowance is $300 for burial and an additional $300 for plot if not buried in National Cemetery

If death is formally determined by VA to be service connected then the allowance payable is up to $2000

VA will engrave and ship free of charge an appropriate headstone or marker for the veterans final resting place

Burial at a National Cemetery (Bushnell is our closest) free of charge for a plot, marker and perpetual care. Cost of transporting remains is generally the responsibility of person handling final arrangements for the veteran
