Explore the GardenCLICK HERE TO ACCESS A LAYOUT OF THE GARDEN The Volunteer Appreciation and Learning Garden was designed to thank our volunteers and serve as a demonstration garden. The trees and plants chosen for the garden were selected for a number of reasons including:
Many of the species here are currently underutilized in our landscapes. Some of the trees here provide shade, while others are great trees for small spaces, others produce attractive flowers, and still others are beneficial for wildlife. We hope the information here will help you choose the right plants for your landscape. The garden was also designed in sections, as described below, to demonstrate the plants that can be used for specific purposes like a wildlife garden, shade garden, and waterwise garden. The garden is currently a work in progress. The trees are installed, and parts of the understory vegetation are planted. The suggested additions will be planted as grant funds are acquired. They will also be planted by volunteer coodinators and volunteers!
Firebush (Hamelia patens)
Beautyberry (Callicarpa Americana)
